About Us

Rodeo is one of the oldest and most exciting traditions in Jackson Hole. Held in a small wooden fenced arena nestled along the hillside directly behind the Stage Coach Bar in Wilson for many years in the 1950's & 1960's, the rodeo served a small group of local ranchers that just wanted to get together to have some weekend fun.

Many years later, the rodeo moved to its current location and became a much bigger event. The late Bob McConaghy, a local dude ranch owner, produced the rodeo for a number of years in the 1970s, and it was by and far the most exciting weekend event in the Valley.

Bob decided to retire from the rodeo in the early 1980's, with different producers and forms of the "show" to follow thereafter. By the late 1980's, rodeo in Jackson was in danger of becoming a tradition of the past. Recognizing this, life-long Jackson residents and rodeo fans, Russ and Judy Moses convinced Bob to step out of retirement for a few years to help them revitalize this long standing local tradition.

In 1987, McConaghy and the Moses' established JH Rodeo Company, and through countless hours of hard work, they were able to return rodeo in the Jackson community to the prominence it deserved. In the mid-90's JH Rodeo had proven to be a successful business, so Bob decided to retire, again. Russ and Judy bought Bob's share and continued down the path of success.

The blood, sweat and tears put into the JH Rodeo Company by Bob McConaghy and Russ and Judy Moses paid off. Today it is a successful and profitable business, and most importantly, it is the hottest ticket in town every Wednesday and Saturday summer night.
